Welcome to Maternal You.

Hi, I’m Helen, a qualified Doula, Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner, and mum to two young girls. I know first-hand that the journey into motherhood is deeply personal—filled with joy, challenges, and moments of uncertainty.

I set up Maternal You to support mums through their postnatal recovery. The journey after birth can often feel overwhelming, and in a society where the pressure is on for mothers to feel in control and immediately know the answers to all their babies needs, my focus is helping you to navigate your personal journey on your terms.

Whether you’re currently pregnant and want to plan for life after birth, or you’ve had your baby and need support, I’d love to help.

I’m based in Stockport, South Manchester and work within a 45 minute radius of this area.

I offer a free 15 minute call for all of my services, so that we can get to know each other first and you can decide if you would like my help. I hope to speak to you soon.

The postnatal period, also known as the fourth trimester, can be an exciting but equally challenging time for mothers whether it’s their first baby or their fifth, as they navigate the physical, emotional and social changes that come with motherhood. As a postnatal doula, I provide support to new mums during this transition period.

Sometimes, mums feel like they are entering the unknown. Mayne you you’ve received conflicting information about something and you’re second guessing your instincts, or you’re struggling to find time for yourself. Whatever it is, get in touch and see how I can help.

Breastfeeding Support.

Breastfeeding is a natural and nourishing way to feed your baby, but it’s not always easy, and many mums struggle physically and emotionally when things don’t go as planned. You are not alone.

As a qualified Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner, I provide guidance and evidence-based information whether you’re preparing to breastfeed and want to gain a deeper understanding of how it works, or you’re already breastfeeding and need support.

Because the mind and body are deeply connected, I also support with gentle relaxation and calming techniques to help you manage those more challenging times with a newborn.

Testimonials…

  • Nicola - Breastfeeding Support.

I highly recommend speaking to Helen if any mamas are struggling. There’s so much expectation that breastfeeding should be ‘second nature.’ Helen gave me so much confidence and got me to relax. Neither hospital midwives or home visits from them or health visitors looked at my position and how uncomfortable the traditional breastfeeding position was for me, especially after my C-section.

  • Olivia - Postnatal Care.

I can’t thank you enough for your support during those early days. I didn’t recognise the person I’d become. Just knowing it was okay to feel overwhelmed - and that I didn’t need to feel guilty for finding things hard - meant so much. That initial bubble of excitement had burst, and I was facing the reality of it all. So many women feel the same way but they don’t speak up because they feel they should be happy and grateful. Your support helped me see I wasn’t alone.
