FAQs

What is a doula?

The term "Doula" comes from the meaning "to serve." Our role is to support mothers and their support network by providing guidance to help them make informed decisions based on evidence. With so much conflicting advice on newborn care, we strive to find accurate information, making it easier for you to navigate these choices.

While a Doula is not a medically trained professional, we recognise when something falls outside our scope and will direct you to the appropriate healthcare professionals for further support.

Do you provide advice?

As a Doula, I don’t provide advice, but can provide you with evidence to help you think clearly about the decisions you are making.

Do we need a contract?

I have a contract for my antenatal classes and postnatal breastfeeding and doula services, which outlines how I work with you. Contracts are typically used if you decide to book on to my breastfeeding antenatal course, or request a significant number of hours for postnatal support.

What do you charge?

I charge £30 an hour for my postnatal doula service and also postnatal breastfeeding support.

I do provide a free 15-minute chat before you decide to commit to anything.

The antenatal breastfeeding course is £75 for 3 hours.

Where do we meet?

I typically meet clients in their homes, but I’m happy to arrange a meeting at a location of your choice. Additionally, I offer online postnatal doula appointments if that better suits you.

All breastfeeding services are provided in person, as hands-on support is especially beneficial for addressing positioning and latch concerns.
